Privacy Policy
Last updated: —
Fizz Squad is a small, independent seltzer review site. We try to be casual about most things, but privacy isn't one of them. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what we do with it — in plain English.
1. Who we are
"Fizz Squad" (we, us, our) operates the website at fizzsquad.com. If you'd like to reach us about anything in this policy, email hello@fizzsquad.com.
2. What we collect
Email addresses (only if you give them to us)
When you sign up for our newsletter or any "notify me" form, we save the email address you submit, the date you submitted it, and which form it came from. That's it. We never sell or rent these addresses.
Visit information
When you load any page, our server logs an anonymized record: the date and time, your IP address (used only to detect bots and de-duplicate visits — never tied to your identity), the page you loaded, the referring page, and your user-agent string. We use this to understand traffic patterns. We do not build profiles or attempt to identify individual visitors.
Reviews and submissions
If you submit a review, we save what you submitted (brand, flavor, rating, written review, bubble-profile vectors, etc.). Submissions are reviewed before going live. Submitting a review does not require giving us your name or contact information.
Local browser storage
We use your browser's localStorage to remember which reviews you've liked and which you've added to Compare. This data lives only on your device and is never sent to our server in identifiable form. Clearing your browser data wipes it.
3. Cookies & analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people visit and how they got there. GA4 sets cookies and may collect usage data on its end — review Google's privacy policy for details. We have IP anonymization enabled. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, GA4 is not loaded for you.
Beyond that, we set no marketing or advertising cookies of our own.
4. How we use what we collect
- Email: to send you the newsletter you signed up for
- Visit data: to see what's working, fix what's broken, and prevent abuse
- Reviews: to show on the public site (with your username if you provided one)
- Local storage: to remember your likes and compare selections across sessions
We never sell, rent, or trade any of this data. We don't share it with third parties except where required by law.
5. Third-party services we use
- Google Analytics 4 — anonymized site analytics
- Google Fonts — for typography (loaded from Google's CDN)
- Our hosting provider — operates the server that serves this site
If we add more (e.g. a newsletter provider, a payment processor for the shop), we'll list them here.
6. Data retention
Email signups are kept until you ask us to delete them. Visit logs are kept for up to 12 months in raw form, then aggregated. Review submissions stay until removed by you or by us.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Show you what data we have on you
- Delete your email from our list
- Remove a review you submitted
- Correct anything that's wrong
Email hello@fizzsquad.com with any of the above and we'll handle it within a few days.
8. Security
We use HTTPS for all traffic. We back up review data automatically. We don't store passwords, credit cards, or any other sensitive personal information.
9. Children
Fizz Squad isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. Material changes get a notice on the site for a couple of weeks.
